Bringing Back the Magic of Childhood Integrating Literacy and Language
Throughout Your Program
The Early Care & Education Training Institute is pleased to announce its participation
in the CT STARS Project for teachers, caregivers, and family child care providers who work
in Bridgeport CT. The 15 hours of specialized training reflects the most current information
on Scientifically Based Reading Research (SBRR). The training is delivered in 10 seminars
covering hands-on and practical information for you to use in your classroom. Come begin
the transformation of your classroom or family child care home while you improve the early
language and literacy development of the children you provide services for.
Each participant upon completion of the entire 15 hours of training will receive classroom
supplies and books as well as a resources list to share with parents.

GETTING EXCITED ABOUT STAFF DEVELOPMENT: MEET WITH A CAREER COUNSELOR
Are you not sure what direction educationally you want to take? do you have a bunch of
college credits and work hours, but don't know what they mean? have you taken training hours
and are interested in articulating them for college credit? Have you worked in child care
for a significant amount of years and not sure of how it might apply to college credit/life
long learning? Then this workshop is for you. Meet with career counselors from CT Charts-A-Course
and local colleges to put it altogether and evaluate your college credits and life-long

.ECETI has been granted funding to offer
15 hours of classes to Kith and Kin (relative) Care Providers. Providers attend the adult
session while the children attend activities, snacks, music, art and crafts and more. Training
topics include Keeping Children Safe, Keeping Children Healthy, Activities to do with Children,
Healthy eating Habits, Communicating with Parents, How Children Grow and Reading with Children
and more. Please spread the news. If you know of a relative caring for children in their home
or in the relative's home let them know about this wonderful opportunity. Not only will they
gain valuable knowledge, they will also be given safety equipment, free training vouchers,

Support Group for Center-Based Providers
In pursuit of support for center based teachers and caregivers, ECETI will continue to
encourage the formation and continuation of a support group all their own. The purpose of
the group will be problem solving based. Meeting 4 times a year, the group will have 2 main
discussion topics per evening and be facilitated by an experienced center based teacher.

First Aid, CPR and Administration of Medications Certification
ECETI offers training for these health and safety classes several times throughout the
